Year 1 (Level C a) Presentation and Software (Communication)
In year 1 students are introduced to the concepts of presenting information and engaging with Primary software to develop an understanding of Curriculum knowledge. The students do this by attending a main lecture where they hear an overview of the use of technology to support Learning and teaching and its importance in today’s primary schools now and in the future.They engage in activities that help them to develop their skills as educators in the Primary age range 3-11. Year 2 (Level C b) Animation and Creativity
In Year 2 the students undertake their study of Primary ICT following a theme of animation and creativity, designed to introduce them to the use of ICT as a X-Curricular teaching tool. It looks at software that is available to Primary teachers to develop children’s creativity in all areas of the curriculum, linking curriculum subjects in a thematic approach whilst maintaining individual subject integrity.They develop skills in handling peripheral devices and creative materials to enhance learning in a topic of their choice.
Year 3 (Level I) Internet and Learning
Through this theme students develop their ability to use and deploy ICT in the classroom to enhance the learning of a Curriculum topic through safe use of the internet. Enquiry based learning and PSHE are particularly emphasised in the sessions and the students have the opportunity to take those emphases into their assignment.Specialists have the opportunity to develop skills in areas such as animation through completion of international periods of study.
Webquests will feature strongly in this short 5 session course and there will be opportunities to explore safe use of the internet. More on Year 3 Level I...
Year 4 (Level H) Innovation and Personalisation of Learning
Here is where students have the opportunity to develop a deeper critical evaluation of the use of ICT through its structured support for Personalised learning. They study other Web2.0 technologies and the impact this has on their pedagogical practice. They are also looking at what makes innovative practice so important in the delivery of ICT as a subject and as a tool for enhancing the delivery of other subjects.
